Project summary

Education and training have a fundamental role to play in achieving the ‘Europe 2020’ objectives. Building quality and access in basic education and lifelong learning will help deliver inclusive growth. Estonian and Finnish partners have worked during past years on creating and testing ECVET system and their will is to transfer and broaden the created UNITs and experince to the ohter countries, in particular case to France and Germany. And on the other hands the new partners are interested in transfer and developing the existing system.

Main aims and objectives

ECVET aims for better compatibilities between the different VET systems and qualifications around Europe. The system aims to facilitate the validation, recognition and accumulation of work-related skills and knowledge acquired during the stay in another country or in different situations. In ECVET, an individual’s learning outcomes are assessed and validated in order to transfer credits from one qualification system to another or from one learning „pathway to another. Learners can accumulate the required learning outcomes for a given qualification over time, in different countries or in different situations. ECVET is on testing level in different projects in Finland (FinECVET, HETA-ECVET) and Estonia (HETA-ECVET, Points to Reality). Estonia is preparing for using ECVET during 2012 – 2013, Finland, France and Germany will start using ECVET in 2013.

The characteristic of the consortium

Estonian and Finnish partners had worked together in Heta- Ecvet INTEREG project and students- teachers exchange projects creating and testing the units in catering, vehicle, construction etc fields. Additionally German and France vocational schools; Kehtna and OMNIA had work together in TOI project in vehicle work group. In summary all partners are experienced in cooperation and know the aim and objectives of the project well. Every single partner will lead some work package of the project and during kick- off meeting will negotiate and agreed on more concrete task lists, including the details. At the same time there is always readiness for change if the circumstances are changing.
